Bio
Gaur Gopal Das is an Indian monk, author and motivational speaker, born in 1973 in Vambori, Maharashtra, into a Marwari Jain family. Wikipedia says he trained as an electrical engineer (a diploma in Pune, then a degree from the College of Engineering, Pune), worked briefly at Hewlett Packard, and left in 1996 to become a monk and join ISKCON, where he was given the name Gaur Gopal Das; it lists Radhanath Swami as his teacher (Wikipedia).
Reach and success
He is one of the best-known ISKCON-trained public speakers today. Wikipedia reports that he has more than 17 million followers across his social media accounts, that he has been invited to speak at universities and corporate firms in India and abroad, and that he has addressed the United Nations once and the British Parliament three times, as well as charity events raising money for education and rural development (Wikipedia).
His books reach a general, non-devotee readership: Life’s Amazing Secrets (Penguin Random House India, 2018), The Way of the Monk (Penguin, 2020), Energize Your Mind: A Monk’s Guide to Mindful Living (Sourcebooks, 2023) and You Can Have It All (HarperCollins India, December 2025). Energize Your Mind received Asia’s “Golden Book Awards” in February 2023, and in 2018 the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) gave him an honorary doctorate (Wikipedia).
He is not the Australian devotee Gaura Gopal, who is a different person on this site. He is not accused of anything on this site.
